The Wrath of Krang

Oct. 4, 2011

The Wrath of Krang

I have to admit: I used to see a little bit of myself in Krang. He battled the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the hopes of taking over the earth; I battled my younger brother in the hopes of taking over the remote control so that I could watch MTV on Saturday mornings instead of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We both lost.

My Little Decapitated Pony

My Little Decapitated Pony

What? You don’t remember the very special episode of My Little Pony that dealt with violent drug cartels? It was a classic.

I HAVE THE POWERRRRRRRR!

Aug. 8, 2011

I HAVE THE POWERRRRRRRR!

God I love He-Man. The eighties wouldn’t have been the same without him defending us from the evil forces of Skeletor. Or inspiring me to try giving my brother a Prince Valiant haircut with my plastic safety scissors. Sorry about that, mom.

Nanny Does Not Approve

Nanny Does Not Approve

Animal from the Muppet Babies holding a checkered flag and . . . a cheese grater? I mean, of course. Because everyone knows that Red Herring from A Pup Named Scooby Doo holding a garlic press and doing the Irish jig is played out.

The Land Before Tramp Stamp

The Land Before Tramp Stamp

I remember my dad taking my brother and I to see The Land Before Time in the theater in 1988. When was the last time I thought aboutThe Land Before Time? 1988.

I’m Having Another TaB-Induced Nightmare

Someone Puked the Eighties All Over You

It looks like someone puked the eighties all over you, which I think can actually happen if you spend an evening drinking peach schnapps mixed with Wild Cherry Clearly Canadian.

Replace Strawberry Shortcake with My Childhood and You'll Know How I Feel

You KNOW that Hollywood has run out of ideas when someone pitches an adaptation of Zoo for the six-and-under demographic.

RIP, Macho Man

May. 20, 2011

RIP, Macho Man

I am sad to report that today the world has lost a neon-clad performer known for a hulking frame and strangulated-rhinoceros voice. And no, I’m not talking about Ke$ha.

Randy Savage had a heart attack this morning while driving and took a face turn right into a tree (too soon?) at the tender young age of 58 (which is actually 206 in pro-wrestling years). I was never much of a wrestling fan so much as I was a fan of watching crappy afternoon television, so here’s how I’ll always remember Randy:
