Two Princesses

Two Princesses

I thought this tattoo was pretty cute, until I realized that it’s the reason I’ve had “Two Princes” stuck in my head for the last seven hours. And for that I can never forgive it.

Debate Team Tattoos: Good or Bad? Discuss.

Debate Team Tattoos: Good or Bad? Discuss.

Okay, I know that tattoos are much more popular now than they were back when I was in high school, but kids these days (yes, I just used that phrase. Now get offa my lawn) do know that they don’t have to go under the needle with every fleeting thought that flits through their tiny little brains, right? I think we need a PSA to raise awareness of the fact that you’re allowed to be in Model UN without getting a Ban Ki-moon tramp stamp to commemorate it. Otherwise, the PEN 15 club is about to get a whole lot more serious.

Spocktopus!

Apr. 4, 2011

Spocktopus!

I know you nerds flip your lids for anything Star Trek–related, so here’s a little treat for you. Enjoy your Spocktopus.

Personally, I would like to see a Dwayne “The Rocktopus” Johnson tattoo. Can you smell what The Rocktopus is cooking? Yeah, and it smells like calamari. Wait, is calamari octopus or squid? What were we talking about again? How did I get in this tree? Who are all you people? Get out of my house! This tree is my house now.

My Backpack’s Got Jets

My Backpack's Got Jets

Well kids, it’s Friday afternoon, so here’s a little treat for you. I know how you guys go nuts for anything Legos- or Star Wars–related, so this should kill two nerds with one stoner’s tat. Have a good weekend.

To Boldly Go . . . Where No Man Ever Gets Laid

Mar. 9, 2011

Trekkie

Now, you might think that this tattoo is an epic marker of sex-repelling nerdiness, but don’t worry. His Mr. Spock costume totally covers it up.

How Did Anyone Win This Game WITHOUT Thirty Extra Lives?

Feb. 25, 2011

How Did Anyone Win This Game WITHOUT Thirty Extra Lives?

Oh come on. It’s not THAT hard to memorize. I did it when I was seven.

I wonder what piece of information from the age of seven would have that spot in my head today if the Konami Code wasn’t still hanging around like an appendectomy scar. Perhaps a memory from a trip to Disneyland or a secret from a childhood friend? Of course, my only childhood friend was named “JUSTIN BAILEY —— ——,” so maybe it’s for the best.

Don't You Ever Put That Thing Down?

PlayStation addiction takes an ugly turn. The worst part? This isn’t even a tattoo.

Video Game Orgy

Feb. 20, 2011

Video Game Orgy

You know, I like video games as much as the next girl. Or at least I used to think so. Now I’m pretty sure that’s wrong, so let me revise: I like video games as much as someone who played them through the early nineties and now just fondly thinks back on Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! and occasionally drunkenly flirts with the idea of buying an old school Nintendo on ebay but probably would not get a tattoo like this. Probably. That said, I don’t remember what happened after 11 o’clock last night, and, now that you mention it, my back kind of hurts.

Quadratic Failmula

Feb. 17, 2011

Math Nerd

You would think that someone who loves math so much that they got the quadratic formula tattooed onto their forearm would also have some sort of appreciation for the precision of aesthetically pleasing typography. But no. Obviously not.

Also, did anyone else’s algebra teacher try to convince them that a good mnemonic for the quadratic formula was a tuneless and not at all memorable song like this one? What was up with that? Next time I try to get my aunt Shirley to remember the address of my “innernet blog,” I’m going to spell out “U-G-L-I-E-S-T-T-A-T-T-O-O-S-dot-F-A-I-L-B-L-O-G-dot-O-R-G” to the tune of the quadratic formula song and see what she does. Besides cut me out of her will.
