Is there any more appropriate way to memorialize September 11 than with a super classy tattoo of Taz in front of the twin towers?
I don’t know, what do you think, Batman?

Yuck!
So how come The Batman didn’t pee the fire out?
He didn’t have the prep time. Or the three dozen bottles of Gatorade he needed.
Batman is thinking “Robin, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Gotham any more.”
or “stupid americans”
looks like facepalm to me!
Totally a facepalm!
It’s a batpalm.
No, it’s a facebat.
@subterranean, “stupid americans” is a little harsh considering the context, no? did I misunderstand the way that you’re being funny?
Harsh, yes. Did you mean, “Stupid murder victims” ?
i think he probably meant the stupid americans who commemorated the disaster with a stupid tattoo, not the people who are dead. stupid americans.
Gotham has always been the comic world of New York City, so the Batman reference fits. Could have been done better, though.
coulda sworn metropolis was…
When you say “comic world” you must mean DC, because the majority of Marvel Comics actually take place in New York. Besides, I’m pretty sure Gotham is supposed to represent Chicago. New York is, as stumblin said before me, represented by Metropolis.
Gotham was a nickname that Washington Irving gave to Manhattan in the early 1800s. He is also the one who wrote a fictitious history of New York in which there was a rich family called Knickerbocker, hence the nickname for New Yorkers.
A lot of fan-theory places Gotham in one of 3 places: Chicago, New York, and somewhere in New Jersey. For me, it’s somewhere in New Jersey.
Ya: Metropolis = New York Gothan = Chicago
I wonder if the bearer of the batman tattoo is smart enough to be embarrassed by it.
I can’t see why. He wasn’t smart enough not to get it.
As much as I’m sure these tattoos have meaning to the owners, I find them completely disrespectful. Commemorating an awful attack, where thousands died sending us into war, with a cartoon character is just asinine.
You and I both know that, but the people who get these honestly do not see a problem with it. It’s a completely different mindset.
I like the Batman one, personally. In a similar vein, Marvel Comics did an issue of Amazing Spider-Man shortly after the original attack where a shell-shocked Spidey and a bunch of other heroes and villains turn up at Ground Zero to help sort through the rubble, and a distraught mother screams at him because he didn’t stop it. As reactionary and hysterical as it was (the author wrote it in less than a day, apparently), the comic was still a powerful tribute.
You might have a point as regards the Taz one, though…
The Taz tattoo was done by a different hand than the 9/11 memorial tattoo.
The Batman tattoo has no such excuse.
It looks like Batman is embarrassed to be in that tattoo.
Maybe the Taz tattoo was done pre-9/11, an advertisement for the bearer’s failed “Taz Takes Manhattan” movie script.
I hope both these people are hit by 2 small radio controlled planes…
oooo…too soon, too soon.
Yeah, South Park tells us that we need to wait another 12.3 years for 9/11 to be funny.
12.3 years?!
It took 20 years for the Jewish Holocaust jokes to start cracking smiles …there is no way 9/11 should take any time remotely close to that hilarious moment in human blundering history to be funny!
none of those events are funny. Millions died in the Holocaust. Thousands in 9/11
why in the world would you take ANY advice from ANYTHING off of south park? love the show, but dont listen to it! you’ll do a Kenny.
Ten years is too soon ?
I am utterly surprised there are no twin-tower penis tattoos. I’m not saying it’s in good taste, but since when have people shied away from tattoos in horrible taste? Or penis tattoos in general?
Whatever hit the city in the Batman tat, must of had a fleet of zeppelins spray acid to cause that kind of damage.
what the hell is up with batman’s fingers?
I’m gonna go ahead and guess that the bearers of these tattoos are not New Yorkers and have never even visited the place. Tastelessness of this magnitude requires a little distance. Equating a real-deal tragedy with Batman suggests that you’ve flipped between “The Dark Night Returns” and the news channel a little too often and just don’t see much of a boundary anymore.
My thoughts exactly. If you’re equating large-scale tragedy with Batman, something is wrong with you and you need a smack.
And probably a shower, too.
Of anvils…..
I think the same reaction here, if you had Tintin (with Snowy) looking over the remains of the bus and tube trains that were bombed in London…
Tintin is a Belgian.
Just picking a character at random.. And Belgium is only a couple of hours away from London by train, so it is quicker to get there than from, say, Manchester or Newcastle….
This is a great comment and likely a very accurate one.
Rednecks
Must be why he’s so sad. That, and the botched reattachment of his left arm.
Giant Batman looks embarrassed to have accidentally knelt on the WTC.
“Aw, Lucius is going to have a fit when Wayne Enterprises gets the bill for this…”
So many people, including myself, have felt so horror over these murders, a horror that says we have not done enough to help these and others who have been effected by all kinds of useless, out of the blue violence. Batman and Taz are symbols of power to some. In the stories they always prevail and it all becomes better. That is not how I deal with it but maybe some people feel better to put a ‘superhero’ between them and these murders, maybe it makes them feel less out of control.
Kyt, you’re always so sensitive and reasonable. I appreciate your interpretation of this.
You really think those are in poor taste? Well, this makes those look downright classy..

Holy crap!
OMG!!
It sort of saddens me that there was an artist willing to ink that.
It rained women too.
Wow, that is really bad.
Both the “artist” and the recipient of that deserve a beatdown.
Wow. I’m a complete a$shole and I think that’s just terrible.
That was actually posted on this site a couple of years ago. But yeah, tasteless.

[...] a question: Why must you keep dragging Batman into it? Submitted by: ichc.jessicaVia: boards.buffalobills.comIncorrect source or [...]
Batman’s facepalming because he’s thinking, “My God, not even half the criminals I fight on a nightly basis are this trashy.”
Taz is a mascot for a lot of fire departments in the US.
