To Boldly Go . . . Where No Man Ever Gets Laid

Trekkie

Now, you might think that this tattoo is an epic marker of sex-repelling nerdiness, but don’t worry. His Mr. Spock costume totally covers it up.

  1. Mayweed says:

Being a lesbian, I would totally hit a chick with that tat. I wouldn’t tell any of my friends, I wouldn’t call her back, but for one night, I would hit it.

  2. icruise says:

I’ve gotta say, I think this one is awesome!

  3. dearborne says:

Yes, well done tattoo but he’d better have a good docking station.

    • Anna Rexia says:

      Docking? LOL!

      • badlilrabbit says:

To boldly go where no woman has gone before.

Wonder if his docking station is co-ed.

        • Anna Rexia says:

Look up Docking on urban Dictionary. Then you’ll see why I was laughing.

          • NinjaFluff says:

I just vomited a little in my mouth. Thanks for forcing me, against my will, to know that little tidbit of information, that I could have easily gone the rest of my life without knowing.

            • cat lady says:

When I come across a word I do not know on here, and someone says “Look it up”. I never, ever, ever do, because I am pretty sure I am happier and saner, for not knowing too much.

  4. Orionsbelt3 says:

This is the penultimate mark of awesomeness – ever! Well, maybe not ever, but it’s cool. One complaint is that the stellar gas cloud looks like earth, so the Enteprise looks like it lightly crashed into the ground and it is balanced on that contact point.

  5. HermitIX says:

It’s a thing of profound beauty. I don’t know who this man is, but I want to have his babies.

  6. KL says:

Okay, yes. I kind of love this.

  7. Tuesday says:

I love it! But I am a girl with a Trek tattoo of my own lol

  8. Recneps999 says:

Looks like Star Trek dude is going to need one of those number taker things like at the deli. So, who’s to say?

  9. Merkin Muffley says:

I think its safe to say this guy is a fan. Too bad Vulcans only require sex every 7 years, which is only logical.

  10. Negativ says:

I think this one is great!
It is well done, has good shading and I love the colors. Additionally, it is tasteful and not obtrusive.
Really, I see no problem with it. Is it considered ugly/sex repellent only because of its theme? I don’t understand this.

    • Snapshot says:

No, there is a stereotype of Star Trek fans, that they are typically male, socially awkward, ill-groomed, wear their uniform shirts all the time, have arguments about whether or not TOS is better than TNG, sometimes begin sentences with “Well, in The Trouble With Tribbles….”, live in their parents’ basements, and can’t talk to girls unless it’s about Star Trek, at which point they walk away.

This guy seems particularly normal compared to the stereotype. And, he is at least smart enough to get a good artist to do this tattoo. Sadly, the “To Boldly Go” part makes me think he may be some twat trying for a joke.

      • Anna Rexia says:

I was thinking of that possibility, too. The stereotype also includes having the body shape of a pre-pubescent kid (male or female), and the guy above has broad shoulders and body hair. I’ve seen the use of “to boldly go” in reference to “to boldly go where no man has gone before” in the sense of deflowering a virgin. I’ll stop now. Otherwise, I may start to hate this tattoo, of which the artist did a fantastic job.

  11. Ash says:

    I also love this man.

  12. Triggerhappy says:

i think this was well executed…

  13. Rauss says:

I don’t think this guy is interested in sex….

    • nmf says:

most every guy is interested in sex no matter how “nerdy” or “dorky” you think they are. its not like being a nerd takes away your sex drive.

      • Rauss says:

Trust me, when you devote your life to something this much, it does. Or maybe it’s just me.

        • nmf says:

          it’s just you.

          • Anna Rexia says:

Watch an episode or two of “Big Bang Theory” and pay close attention to the character Sheldon. You could use him in place of the Socially Awkward Penguin meme.

            • nmf says:

yeah, at the same time thats a sitcom character not a real person, i just don’t but the crap about “not interested in sex” maybe “less interested in sex”. Even if you deny it, even if you learn to live with it, even if you vow it off, its still there it’s a natural part of humanity. to completely be without a sex drive is like never being hungry or thirsty, in other words not human.

              • Default User says:

I have a friend who is in no way socially awkward, is quite attractive and has not had a significant other since high school. I know plenty of people who are interested in him, both men and women and yet he continues to remain single. I honestly believe he is asexual.

    • CynSeattle says:

You’re an idiot. You don’t know the motives behind peoples tattoos, nor do you know the people rocking them. Such a silly assumption to make if you take that into consideration.

  14. Michael says:

Awesome tattoo… and always a good thing to know there ARE female trekkies out there. Gives me hope for the future. Throw in a love of comic books and MST3K? **swoon.

    • Canaduck says:

I like Star Trek, but MST3K has been number 1 in my heart basically since it started.

      • Rauss says:

We never had it in the UK sadly, I’ve had to spend years watching every full episode catalogued part by part on Youtube.

I wouldn’t have known it existed if someone I was friends with at school (who was a spectacular geek of epic proportions) hadn’t discovered the film and tried to convince people to watch it.

      • Anna Rexia says:

I have fancied the idea of getting a tattoo of Crow, or the silhouette of Joel, Crow, and Tom. I know the latter has been done numerous times, but that doesn’t stop me from loving it.

  15. Czernobog says:

Yeah, the whole “nerds don’t get laid” thing is old, tired, and patently untrue.

  16. maggiemayday says:

I can’t get past the Sea of Polenta.

  17. getkraken says:

I love it and would totally date a guy with this tattoo. IDK why it’s even really featured here; it’s well done and anyone who says Star Trek isn’t awesome is kind of lame :X

    • Anna Rexia says:

It must be my turn again.

This site features not only ugly tattoos, but funny, cute, and occasionally, Dear Leader (aka the moderator, aka Jessica), treats us to an excellent one. It gives the regulars hope, and misspelled word tattoos, and those featuring animated genitalia, get old after a while.

      • kayk says:

I kind of view it like the CakeWrecks (cakewrecks.blogspot.com) site — “when professional cakes go horribly, hilarously wrong.” Sometimes it’s typos, sometimes it’s bad taste, sometimes it’s a beautifully done cake of a poor choice of design — like the lovingly rendered bat fly for an entymologist. It was a beautiful job — but it was still a giant fly on a cake.

        • Anna Rexia says:

I had to look up “bat fly” to be sure it wasn’t supposed to be botfly. I think the bat fly is more disturbing than a botfly larva.

        • Rauss says:

Cakewrecks is less subtle about throwing in the nice with the hideous though, with the Sunday Sweets section every week.

  18. ray says:

    Wicked Awesome!!!!

  19. bloop says:

    Fuck. Yes.

  20. iliveinthewalls says:

    i’d hit that.

  21. a free plant for fat slobs says:

It’s well done, but that’s still a split infinitive.

  22. jaydee says:

“To boldly go” would be a great slogan for a public bathroom.

And if I were about 20 years younger I’d hit that.

  23. Hello says:

    I’d totally hit that!

  24. Cleopatra says:

    I’ve always thought of myself as a nerd, or a nerd-lover … but I couldn’t hit that.

If that guy and I were wrestling each other’s clothes off in a motel room and that was unearthed, I’d probably start laughing, and then feel kind of embarrassed for him.

    I’m a bad, unworthy person. :-(

  25. AncientGower says:

Before we go hitting on that–and I have to agree, I’d hit it–I think we have to consider: what are those other tattoos on his arm?

  26. kokeshidoll says:

I’d take a ride on that spaceship…spock ears and all!

  27. Ansgar says:

Oi, you’re a blog on the internet, and you think a well-executed nerdy tattoo will PREVENT someone from getting laid? Really, you should know better.

  28. kdub says:

I love this SO MUCH. Sexytimes.

  29. Eric_the_Viking says:

This is awesome, I kinda want one myself.

  30. Hmm.... says:

the tattoo may be well executed, but the man should be too.

  31. ShadowQuest says:

*raises her hand* Umm…I have a First Season TNG uniform. With Captain’s pips. My mother made it for me years ago, and it still fits.

I was also a Vulcan ambassador one year for Halloween. I’m currently working on armor for my WitchKing costume; when I wore it @the bookstore I worked at when RoTk came out I freaked out a lot of people because they thought I was a statue.

This is a very beautiful tattoo; well done with excellent shading and attention to detail, right down to reversing the registry numbers.

  32. Headtail says:

    I’d hit it.

  33. Leprchn says:

    Unbelievably AWESOME tattoo! Epic WANT!!!!!!!

  34. Urchin says:

I wouldn’t hit that. The hairy areolas freak me out. And you could braid what’s growing out of his armpit. I think the big, bright geek tat was intended to draw attention away from his freak chest hair.

    • Rauss says:

Speaking as a guy, it’s incredibly difficult to shave the nipples carefully, so yeah, there’s always bound to be some left when guys shave their chests.

    • orangekitten says:

Hairist. I think the geekitude is more likely to turn me off than the hair. I like men to have manly features. Which includes hair on their chests. In fact, this fellow needs more.

      • Urchin says:

Eh, it’s a flippant comment made on a website where we poke fun at people and the mistakes they ink on their bodies. Here, have a mint and don’t take me seriously.

  35. Joe Soap says:

“To go boldly” hasn’t the same ring though, has it?

But as Winston Churchill once said, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.

  36. Kelila says:

This is actually quite awesome. I’m impressed by his… boldness. OH-HO-HO.

  37. J.D. Selene says:

    Yeah, I’d do him!

  38. Shooork says:

I mostly love this for the jawsome use of color.

  39. Noelegy says:

See, I’m always a bit perplexed by the assumption that geeks or nerds get no lovin’. There are plenty of girls out there who are geekish themselves.

  40. Plundered Soul says:

I might actually lay that guy. I like Star Trek. (I’m a girl) But it’s the nipplehair that I can’t stand! D:

  41. tyberius says:

I love this. I’m guessing I could love the guy too. Nerd = Sexy :)

  42. Junglebetti says:

is anyone else curious about the tat on his left arm?

    • CynSeattle says:

It’s a full sleeve, not dedicated to any dorkyness. It’s kind of like a big colorful celtic knot design, if I remember correctly. I make it sound lame but it’s pretty rad.

  43. Rico says:

HEY! I’m a total trekkie! I’d do this guy soon as LOOK at him!

  44. jamisings says:

Trust me, there’s female Trekkies, and a few male ones, who’d do him.

  45. Chrystal says:

    This is fucking glorious.

  46. No Problem Here says:

Geeks make awesome boyfriends. They’re always entertaining. I’m trying to catch up to him in geeky-ness. And he’s a great lover. ;)

  47. RosieB says:

    Bah. That’s totally hot.

Granted, I’m a chick who is both trying to make Marlena Moreau/Evil Kirk and Slave Leia/Han Solo costumes for myself and my boyfriend.

Let’s just say that it took a geek to boldly go where no man had gone before with me. ;)

  48. CynSeattle says:

This is my friends tattoo! He IS a dork but an awesome dork. He is also attractive, so you haters can shove your stereotypes right up your asses :-) Aaaaand he is married to a hot chick, I doubt he is getting any lack of ass due to this tattoo.

  49. Raychel says:

Lol i Like this guy i dont know him but i like him!

  50. violetxrain says:

    It’s actually very well done.

  51. S says:

I <3 geeks…really, really, REALLY <3 geeks. Also, while I'm not a Trekkie, I do prefer Star Trek over Star Wars anyday. So yeah, if the owner of that tat were cute and he showed me that tat, he'd be getting laid right then and there. And f#ck what my friends thought about it.

  52. ShirtlessKirk says:

I thought this was a beautifully done tattoo. Not to mention that anyone who can afford one of this size and quality must have lots of quatloos to spare. I’d wager he gets action at the cons, and not just from the pros.

  53. zeus says:

That rule is quite stupid when applied to the English language. It’s a latin rule. It makes sense for latin. The only reason it’s part of english is because some people wanted to force english to conform to latin rules to make it “respectable”. Since latin, was, obviously, the world’s most perfect language.

But now latin is dead. As should be the split infinitive rule.

  54. falisha says:

YOUR TAT FKIN ROCKS……………STAR TRACK FOR LIFE……BABY

  55. I’d learn Klingon just to hit that.

  56. Emily says:

GORGEOUS! Although I’d love it more if it was the Enterprise D
    :P

I’m getting my own Star Trek tattoo soon and it’s going to cover the whole of my thigh.

Oh, and I lost my virginity in a one night stand at a convention to a star trek geek. So they definitely do get laid. His love of Star Trek and Doctor Who was part of the turn on <3

  57. terrorelf says:

It’s beautiful. Why is this here?

  58. Alex says:

Dude, this one’s fabulous. Sometimes I really wonder about the person who writes for this site.

  59. xovampire says:

wheres the other side of the enterprise?
    and.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS TATTOO. so. shush.
