Well, I know that MY mom would certainly get a tear in her eye if I ever honored her with a tattoo of the Monster energy drink logo. And then she’d probably get a pinched nerve in her shoulder from slapping me into another dimension.

He does look a bit nauseated. Perhaps he just realised how stupid it was to get something in the Monster energy drink font. As Jessica pointed out, her mother would have pinched a nerve slapping her into another dimension. Mine would be so shocked that I honoured her with such a tattoo, she’d be in shock. A month later, after recovering from the shock, she’d then ask why it looks like someone clawed the letters into me. Then I could tell her it was done by a lover in the heat of passion, with tattoo ink under her nails. Then I could schedule the funeral.
So back to the guy being nauseated; it’s not at all unusual for people to get nausea while being tattooed. The repeated trauma to one spot on your body will cause an increase in endorphins and a drop in blood sugar. It’s not at all unusual for it to cause nausea. In some people, that is followed by a rapid drop in both endorphins and blood sugar and causes them to throw up or even pass out. Hopefully Michael or one of the other artists who come around here can verify this, correct anything I said wrong, and/or add to it.
It’s most likely the vasovagal response which is a autonomic body response to stimulus such as repeated pain, stress, shock etc. Some people pass out, some puke, most get clammy and lightheaded. Some poor buggers even suffer it for no reason.

yes, many people do not realize that about blood sugar when you are getting a tattoo. some shops have big bowls of candy for this reason, i got most of my work done in the midwest and when i was in the pacific n.w., that is where i noticed the shops paying more attention to things that happen to our body when getting tattoos!

Wow!! Now I know never to get a tat. I get really weepy and depressed when I get low blood sugar. I’d be a blubbering mess if I got a tat. Was thinking of one too..
If you really want one then just bring a bag of lollies or a bottle of soft drink (NOT Monster Energy Drink…. ever) if it’s a small’n then you’ll most likely be fine.

The bad thing is he’ll have to keep shaving his chest to keep that tat visible. But really, I always thought a “mom” or “mother” tattoo was just a folklore thing, like everyone knows that’s a popular tattoo but nobody actually knows anyone who has one.
You are right. I picture a biker or sailor with that in a heart on their arm, but I don’t know anyone that has the tattoo.
My brother was in the USN in the 60s and had the very traditional heart ribbon Mom & Dad thang.
My sailor dad’s late ’40s-era tattoo is a heart with “Mom”on the ribbon.
