Well kids, it’s Friday and I’m feeling generous, so here’s a non-ugly tattoo to top off the week. Calvin and Hobbes was a favorite of mine, and the day that strip ended I canceled my newspaper subscription. Well, it was really my parents’ newspaper subscription, but I was doing them a favor. They’d be getting all their news from the Internet ten years later soon after that anyway.
Tomorrow we’ll return to our regularly scheduled programming of botched portraits and disembodied genitalia.

It’s absolutely beautiful but I would worry with all the small text that it won’t age well. Only time will tell.
It’s exceptionally well done and if he keeps sun exposure to a minimum, and avoids harsh chemicals (seriously), it will keep well. I have tattoos that are 25 years old that still look fresh (got ‘em when I was under legal age. don’t tell anyone.)
Oh he will be staying out of the sun . . . the guy with this tattoo is a natural redhead and burns too easy.

Hate to break it to you, but that’s not “behind the knee” hair, that’s partly due to a shadow and partly due to the rest of the leg being shaved since the tattoo was still very new.

I tried really hard to find whomever the artist is, but no luck. meh. I did manage to find a few other nice Calvin and Hobbes tattoo pictures here, which includes another leg piece that in some part looks like it could be the other half of the same leg, but I’m not that sure. I tried researching that picture but came up blank on it. I may try a few other search engines, because this is another one of those artists who really deserve recognition.
I recently discovered another prodigious tattoo artist. She’s only been working for three years, and, like Kat Von D, seems to have a very promising career ahead of her. I’ll be having some work done by her soon.
It has to be the other side of the same leg. The tribal looking design on the back of the calf matches both pictures. Thanks for posting this.

You did a great job. I know the site name says ugly tattoos, but I like to think that most of us really like tattoos and come to look at the good ones as much as the ones that fit the site name. I vote up for any tattoo that I think has good art, not matter the context. This one was easy vote for both from subject and art.

Wow… makes me think that this site needs a “Sunday Sweets” like they do over at Cake Wrecks. LOVE Calvin… though I hate all stickers of him peeing or praying. I don’t recall him doing either.
There was one cartoon where the monsters under his bed wouldn’t let him go to the bathroom, so he just peed out the bedroom window. Now that I think about it, that was probably the only pee-related joke in the whole series.
