Speaking of Steve Buscemi, here he is as Darth Vader. Because why not? If you want to have an original tattoo these days, you have to pull your inspiration from two or more completely disparate sources, and even then someone’s probably already beat you to it. Robocop and My Little Pony? Done. Billy Mays and cupcakes? Try again. Artificially flavored novelty candy and the bible? Nope. You’re not even trying anymore, are you?

That tattoo is awesome and very well done too, that is all.
Killer tattoo.
Awesome rendering of Steve Buscemi!
It really is nicely done. A T-shirt yes, on skin, mmmmmm not so much.
i feel like you say this about most of the tattoos on this site
or maybe by crazy coincidence those are the only comments of yours i see
I do say it alot. But I wouldn’t say most. I guess I just like to acknowledge well done tattoos even if they are weird as hell. A talented artist impresses me. I can barely draw a stick figure.
Nothing on here dissuades me from craving my next inking. The three artists I employ (as in utilise/patronise) all are fully trusted. Two can do good portrait work; however, if I ever decide to have any portrait work done, I will seek out someone who has a sizable portfolio of excellent portrait tattoos, and I will pay more for that privilege.
I fully agree that the tattoo above is excellent work. I would love to know who the artist is. Though it’s not my style, it does not detract from the fact that it’s well above par work.
Not everyone needs/wants to have a tattoo. I have them because I love inkwork, I was inspired by having female ancestors on my father’s side who had tattoos, and I love having tattoos on my body. All of them are part of who I am. Like you, I enjoy personal changes. For me, that’s the cool thing about hair – you can always (with a few exceptions) grow it back out. I like to change the colour of my hair. I like interesting t-shirts, but more for kitsch and cute than making a statement. That’s what my mouth is for. :p
Just because you don’t have tattoos and may decide never to get one doesn’t mean you don’t have admiration for the art. I respect that.
Ahhhhhh! Now THERE’S a pocket Venus!!
BIBLE!
now that’s an awesome tattoo!
i agree!
“Daddy, why has grampa got a drawing on him of a sad man with a mouth organ tied to his chin?”
That’s the part which befuddles me – the parts from his jawline and down from there. It’s been a number of years since I saw any of the Star Wars movies (I know. I should be ashamed of myself.), so is the Darth Vader reference something to do with that particular part of the tattoo, and if so, in which scene from which movie do they show Darth “under the hood” so to speak?
The microphones (I think that’s what they are) and the finger harp thinger, mounted on top of one of those old back braces used to help correct scoliosis, really has me confused.
Its from “Return of the Jedi” when Vader, after saving Luke from the Emperor, wants to see him with own eyes as Anakin before dying. The sad Buscemi eyes don’t seem too out of place with the context.
I had to find a video clip of that because I totally forgot about it. Damn. The resemblance of the two expressions is eerie. If the tattoo artist who laid down the ink on this one is also the one who drew it, then infinity internets to them. Wow!
Anna, I am of the opinion that anyone older than 10 who still watches Star Wars (apart from Empire Strikes Back which is great) should be ashamed of themselves.
I’m with Melissa on this one – a “Hey, you know what would totally rule? Steve Buscemi as Darth Vader!” idea is t-shirt material (it also has the reek of a meme that didn’t take off) or a two-minute comedy sketch rather than lifelong skinwear. Ho hum.
Dude, I am your father.
“I’m a person too, Pop!”
A portrait of an ugly dude translates to an ugly tattoo. Plain and simple.
No way! This is an awesome portrait!
mmm sweet sweet Buscemi!
Being friends with this gentleman I must say he is covered with website appropraite tats.
Do you have links to any pics of other ink work he has? I really like this Steve Buscemi one.
hey, could you hook me up with this guy or link me to the tattoo artist? I’d like to make shirts of this.
Well rendered but odd subject matter. The Star Wars geek in me says that Buscemi would make an excellent Vader. He’s one of the most talented actors of our time, and he’s about as funny as they come.
and next tattoo will be jon lovitz as luke.
Christoph Waltz as random Jawa #3.
Awesome tattoo.
He’s got the whole world in his hand,
he’s got the whole wide world in his hand..
I love that movie, and I love his character from it.
Armageddon, right? Cause that’s where my brain went before I read the header.
Movie is “Con Air”
He’s my neighbor and is seriously the nicest man I have ever met.
do you mean steve buscemi or darth vader?
LMAO

This tattoo is a win on so many levels, I can hardly contain myself. Whenever people think outside of the box like this, it always makes my day in regards to expression… another cool portrait would be Michael Ironside or a younger Jack Nicholson done as Wolverine… some of the Frank Miller renderings of Wolverine remind me of a slumped, capering J. Nicholson with an idiotic grin on his face. Just sayin’.
How low has the country sunk when getting a lame tattoo like this is considered “thinking outside the box” as noted above. Good grief, Idiocracy has arrived.
Really Sam? …..Reallllllly?
Attention everyone. Being goofy and enjoying life is idiotic. Thanks Sam for the heads-up. I just got douche chills.
its steve in a space suit from armagedon peeps
finally, was reading through the whole thread to see if no one else got that it’s from armageddon!
[...] to have to add a tag for tattoos that are, as far as I can tell, two or more completely unrelated ideas tacked together, just so I have a place to put things like a Falcor/2Pac mashup. What should I call [...]
I’m right there with you m about how nobody realized this was from Armageddon! How does nobody else realize it? The movie was very famous! Jesus people know your roots!
Alright….Ive had enough of this Armageddon bullstuff…..
